Pipework and Brazing Training and Assessment

A practical course covering safe and competent refrigeration brazing and pipe jointing. There are 2 schemes available: Commercial (up to 7/8") Industrial (up to 1 3/8")

Course Description

A two-day Course, upon satisfactory completion of which delegates qualify for ConstructionSkills Pipework and Brazing Competency Certification (valid for 5 years).

This Course commences with a theoretical session followed by a short written assignment. It is predominately a practically orientated course covering both Air Conditioning and Refrigeration requirements for safe and competent brazing (copper/copper, copper/brass, copper/steel) techniques.

A range of differing copper line sizes will be applied including the use of different materials and brazing alloys, all leading to quality leak-proof joints. New refrigerants and their specific techniques will be discussed, equipping the Engineer/Technician with up to date information and the current legislative requirements. There are two schemes available:

Commercial Scheme (J05):

This covers all Pipework up to and including ⁷/₈" All joints will be pressure tested to ensure a leak free joint has been achieved prior to destructive testing being undertaken.

Industrial Scheme (J04):

This covers all Pipework up to and including 1 ³/₈" All joints will be pressure tested to ensure a leak free joint has been achieved prior to destructive testing being undertaken.

Objectives

At the end of the Course delegates will be able to:

Produce quality brazed joints on differing pipe sizes.
Be aware of the industry needs related to jointing methods.
Demonstrate competency by showing the ConstructionSkills’ certification card.
Make others aware of the need for sound brazing techniques.
